Park City Market Update

Park City, Utah - April 26, 2013 Park City Board of REALTORS just released statistics for the first quarter of 2013 showing the number of sales are up 17% from the first quarter of 2012. The sales dollar volume is up 28% over the same time-period last year, climbing from $239 million in Q1 of 2012 to over $306 million for Q1 of 2013. Housing Market Tilting Toward Sellers?

Realtors and brokers agree: the Park City housing market is on the road to recovery. Sellers and buyers are negotiating more, looking for the compromise rather than selling below home value or demanding bottom-dollar prices up front.

According to the Park City Board of Realtors, the Park City area just experienced its highest number of sales and sales pending of any first half of the year since 2007, before the housing market crash. A total of 486 properties were sold since the start of the year with a total sales volume of $347,392,785. January 25, 2010 (Park City) - According to the Park City Board of REALTORS® more than $858 million in real estate transactions changed hands in the greater Park City area during 2009

The total sales volume includes condominiums, single family homes and land. In 2008, total sales exceeded $1.03 billion, which is a 16.9 percent decrease in the volume sold in 2009.

The First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit is about to expire on November 30, 2009. The tax credit which is up to $8,000.00 is available to any home buyer who has not owned a home in the past three years. Congress introduced the program in February as part of the Stimulus Package.

Currently there are approximately 20 proposed bills in the House and Senate to extend and/or expand the credit, some with expansion of the credit, and other bills with restrictions and limitations that do not exist in the current law. The first and only funicular at a North American ski resort was installed last weekend at the soon-to-open The St. Regis Deer Crest Resort located at Deer Valley Resort, Park City, Utah.
